Hi Alex,
Fortunately we do not have to create every hierarchy from scratch. In many cases the hierarchies are available in an SAP Source System and we can upload them to BW using Business Content DataSources. E.g. Material, Customer, Profit Center, Cost Center, Cost Element, G/L Account, etc.
As a first step investigate thoroughly together with your Source System colleagues which hierarchies are available in the SAP Source Systems.

I haven't structured my PCR yet. Another thing I'm looking at the PCR is pro-rata calculation. For e.g. Emp accrues 7 hrs every pay period, I have to ensure it is prorated for mid-period joinees, part to full time or vice versa transfers in the mid of the period for pro-rata scenarios.

Issue Storing an xml file content having more than 1500 characters
HI,
I am trying to store an XML file content in one of the table column in HANA DB and When I give a content which has character length of 1700 Characters. I get an exception "SAP DBTech JDBC: [274]: inserted value too large for column"
I tried with the following data types for that column varchar(4000), nvarchar(4000), TEXT, CLOB and none of them helped in resolving above exception.
Any help appreciated and thanks in advance.

Diagnosis
According to the definition, using transaction type 116 automatic entry should be performed to more than on area online. This is not possible.
Procedure
Check the specifications for the transaction type and the areas to which postings should be performed using the Customizing menu.
I have Cross Check an There is No Down Payment, In OAYB, i have added AUC Asset Classes and AO90 i already maintained Down payment GLs.
Still the Error.

System error in table LFM1, account 100313 when updating
When I am trying to maintain data for vendor purchasing view I am getting message
System error in table LFM1. I see that LFM1 data is not shown for this vendor. Also when I am trying to Extend vendor to given purchase organisation it gives me message that vendor is already extended for the purchasing org.
When I am trying to maintain & save purchasing data I am getting update terminate error " system error in table LFM1 , account 100313 when updating"
Kindly confirm what can be the issue. We are in the process of EHP7 patch upgrade can this be the reason for this issue.

Hi Kinjal,
As per your request I sent the following 3 SAP Notes by e-mail to you:
- SAP Note 996943 - 0FI_GL_4:Reversed document is extracted as blank into BW!;
- SAP Note 760973 - Performance deteriorates after appl. of Note 641977;
- SAP Note 651227 - Document changes are only partially registered.
The last 2 SAP Notes are quite old and applicable for old ECC releases. The first SAP Note could be applicable but deals with a rare case and I wonder if the issues with cleared documents are occurring because of this.
Did you check the basic prerequisites to make change pointers' process work correctly? In table TPS31 you must find Business Transaction Event (BTE) 5011 - BWFIP_WRITE_AEDAT_POINTER.
Is the BTE registered? You can check it using t/code FIBF. The BTEs should exist in table TPS01.
Are there any custom BTEs implemented (i.e. BTE 5021, 5022 or 5023)?
To have a clear picture, please inform us which ECC release, Enhancement Package and Support Package level your system is on.

Hi,
Customers using SAP Customer Activity Repository don't have to use BW if they don't have an existing BW system. Using Hana as the underlying database provides OLAP and OLTP capabilities within the same product, so there's no need for customers to use a dedicated OLAP product such as BW. The data is directly available in the same Hana tables without the need to an additional data store (BW Info objects, DSOs).
SAP Customer Activity Repository also provides a set of Hana calculation views, similar to BW Cubes, that provide real-time access to data, these views can be used by BW in case the customer have existing BW objects or can be directly consumed by other clients.
In the end, the main idea is to provide OLAP and OLTP capabilities within the same platform.

On the first dialog workitem, the value is held in _Wi_Actual_Agent. you can pass it to a workflow container and use it as agent in the second step.
I can not remember but I think that leaving the agent blank on the second step works too.

Mass updating the CATSDB without using data entry profile via BAPI
Hi Gurus,
We are working on a requirement where we need to update the CATSDB entries for multiple personnel numbers and multiple work dates together. We actually update the price field there. We currently use the BAPI_CATIMESHEETMGR_CHANGE inside a loop to update the entries but we faced below issue.
1. This BAPI needs a data entry profile to update CATSDB. We tried using without one, and got some error regarding the cost objects. Also BAPI defaults the values for data entry profile internally even if we do not pass one to it. Now as we are updating the already existing entries, we really do not know using which profile the data was saved earlier, and we use any one of them as default to change. Our initial understanding was that the data inside CATSDB is independent of the the data entry profile, hence it should be ok to use any one profile and update. But then we noticed during testing that some of the already existing fields got cleared since they were not part of the current data entry profile being used.
Now our requirement is to develop a program which updates the CATSDB independently of the data entry profile. I do not think it is possible, then it is being requested by the functional team that whatever data is there in CATSDB should be updated with the price field irrespective of the data entry profile.
Could you please provide your thoughts on the same and possible solutions.

This could be due to the upgrade. Refer the KBA: 2213850 - Error in creating vendor in new purchasing organization in EHP7 which explains the reason and the solution. As mentioned in the KBA, implement the note: 2176802 - Incorrect error raised while adding or changing purchasing data, and test the scenario again.
