Thanks for the information.
The note 1910297 - ABAP Update halted in preprocessing step mentioned to reset the update and apply the patch.
Am in 37 Patch level higher than the version. However the error is smilar to the one mentioned in the note.
I just got this error for 2 tables only not for many tables. These tables related to SLO.

Large Stat files generated and Old Spool files filling up Filesystem
Hi Gurus,
Need some clarifications on the below issue :
In our Production enviroment, Large Stat files are generated often, filling up the Filesystem (e:/usr/sap/ECP/).
1) After some research, we found that the huge STAT files were generated due to large number of RFC steps(user:UWL_SERVICE). So as per the note 1927118, we have changed the profile parameters 'stat/rfcrec = 1' and 'stat/max_files=10' for the ECP system and parameters were activated after system restart. Now the number of files has reduced to 10, but we are still able to see the file size of the Stat files growing upto 2 GB (for each stat file) at different hours. This in turn is causing to fill up often creating issues in production enviroment. We dont see any difference in file size growth after changing the value of 'stat/rfcrec' from 5 to 1. What is the purpose of this 'stat/rfcrec' parameter? What difference does it make to set its value as 5 or 1?
2) Furthermore, there was 8 GB of SPOOL files generated in E:\usr\sap\ECP\SYS\global and another 4 GB of spool files inside the E:\usr\sap\ECP\SYS\global\100ADSP path as well. Is it normal?
Also the files E:\usr\sap\ECP\SYS\global\100ADSP are mostly existing starting from implementation time, what is the purpose of these files and can they be cleared off by some method without creating any sideeffects.
3) Can someone explain what is this UWL_SERVICE (Universal Work list service user) used for? Recently in our production systems, there is huge number of RFC calls made to our ECC system (from portal) using this user. Can these calls made be restricted or controlled in any manner?

Calling RFC in F4 button
I have a requirement in PPM , where i need to add custom fields and when I click on F4 button , I need the data to be fetched from table of different server(ECC and few other) and to store it in custom fields.
Kindly guide me how to proceed on this.
